Vermicelli casserole
Ingredients (for 4 servings):
- Vermicelli or any short pasta — 200 g
- Eggs — 3 pieces
- Milk — 250 ml
- Hard cheese — 120 g
- Butter — 20 g
- Salt — to taste
- Ground black pepper — to taste
- Oregano, basil — to taste
- (Optional) ham/vegetables — 100 g
Preparation:
- Boil the vermicelli or chosen pasta shape until al dente. Drain the water.
- In a bowl, mix eggs, milk, spices, and a pinch of salt.
- Add grated cheese and (optionally) finely chopped vegetables or ham to the mixture.
- Combine the pasta with the resulting mixture and mix well.
- Grease a baking dish with butter and pour in the mixture.
- Bake at 180°C for about 20–25 minutes, until the top is golden.
- Let the casserole cool slightly and serve warm.
Helpful tip
To make the casserole juicier, add some sour cream or heavy cream to the egg-milk mixture. If you want a crispy crust, sprinkle more cheese on top 5 minutes before it’s done.
